Stacking Stones

Brandon Stieg’s Stacking Stones series—featuring works like Strata, Unbroken, Cumulus, Sierra, and Ember—reimagines the ancient practice of stone balancing in hand-carved wood and steel. Sculpted from woods such as Douglas fir, redwood, cedar, and hardwoods like madrone and eucalyptus, the forms are refined through techniques including yakisugi (wood burning), oil infusion, and wax finishing. Ranging from 5 to 8 feet tall, each sculpture is mounted on a hidden steel support and weighted base for stability. One of a kind. Metal stacking stones coming soon.
